Speaking to this Medium, community members said they have managed to construct a portion of the road, but the project has stalled, leaving them struggling to access essential service Centres.

According to the residents, the completed section of the road ends at Mandinaring while the remaining portion remains in a deplorable state.

“Some women in the community are particularly affected, as many of them rely on that road to transport goods to the market in Brikama,” said a village elder, Saidou Mbye.

Ndey Gibba and Sireh Fye narrated the hardships they endured during the rainy season, saying that they had to use motor tricycles to transport their goods to Brikama, and sometimes they had to get down and push the motor because of the Nature of the road. “By the time we get to the market, we are already tired.”

Residents are now calling on local authorities and the government to step in and complete the road, which they believe will boost the local economy and improve access to vital services.
