Benin President Romuald Wadagni Arrives in Burkina Faso for Friendship and Working Visit

OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — The President of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, arrived in Ouagadougou on Tuesday for a friendship and working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Benin and Burkina Faso.

President Wadagni was welcomed at the Ouagadougou International Airport by Burkina Faso’s leader, Ibrahim Traoré.

The arrival ceremony featured the playing of the national anthem and military honours, underscoring the importance of the visit. Following the official reception, the two leaders held a private meeting in the airport’s Hall of Honour before proceeding to the Presidential Palace in Koulouba.

According to the Presidency of Faso, Presidents Traoré and Wadagni are expected to hold a working session focused on issues of mutual interest and ways to deepen cooperation between the two neighbouring West African nations.

The visit comes at a time when regional leaders are seeking to strengthen diplomatic ties and cooperation on economic, security, and development challenges facing the region.

No further details of the discussions were immediately disclosed by the Burkina Faso Presidency’s Directorate of Communications.
