The Government of The Gambia has announced the official opening of TUI BLUE Tamala, a landmark development that signals a new era for the country’s tourism industry. Scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the launch is being hailed as a significant milestone underscoring The Gambia’s growing reputation as a competitive and dynamic destination in West Africa.

As the first TUI BLUE concept hotel in the subregion, the new facility positions The Gambia within the global network of the TUI Group, one of the world’s leading tourism, airline, and hospitality brands. The partnership is expected to boost The Gambia’s visibility in international travel markets through access to TUI’s vast marketing, flight connectivity, and distribution platforms.

According to the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, this development will enhance the country’s competitiveness while increasing international tourist arrivals.

The Ministry cited the success of similar models in Cape Verde and Senegal, where TUI’s integrated operations significantly boosted tourism numbers and air travel frequency. The same approach, officials believe, will help The Gambia achieve its national goal of welcoming one million tourists annually.

What makes the achievement even more notable, the statement added, is that TUI BLUE Tamala is fully Gambian-owned. This ensures that the economic benefits of increased tourist inflows, such as job creation, small business growth, and expanded market access, remain within the local economy.

The official opening ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 11, with Artur Gerber, CEO of TUI BLUE Hotels and Resorts, and Wesam Okasha, Global Head of Business Development, among the special guests expected to attend.

The Ministry emphasized that the launch represents not just the unveiling of a world-class hotel, but also a strategic leap forward in The Gambia’s ambition to become a leading, sustainable, and globally competitive tourism destination.
