Rogbangba, Sierra Leone – Fatima Maada Bio, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, has officially launched a new women-led political movement, “Queens 4 Change,” in Rogbangba, signaling growing grassroots mobilisation within the Sierra Leone People’s Party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The initiative, driven by local women, aims to expand membership and consolidate support for the ruling party. Addressing the gathering, the First Lady praised the women for taking an active role in shaping the country’s political future, describing their unity as a catalyst for transformation.

She noted a significant political shift in Rogbangba, a community once regarded as a stronghold of the opposition All People’s Congress, but now increasingly aligning with the SLPP.

During the visit, Fatima Maada Bio engaged with residents and listened to key concerns, particularly the poor state of the road network and the condition of the community centre.

In response, she pledged to support the construction of a modern community centre, reinforcing her advocacy for women’s empowerment and community development.

She also highlighted government achievements in healthcare, infrastructure, education, and women’s empowerment, urging continued support for the SLPP to sustain these gains beyond 2028.

The launch of “Queens 4 Change” marks a notable step in grassroots political mobilisation, especially among women, as the country gradually looks ahead to the next electoral cycle.
