Fatou Kinteh Praises Barrow, Says Gambian Women Are Ready to Campaign for His Re-Election

SALIKENI, The Gambia — Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Hon. Fatou Kinteh, has praised President Adama Barrow for what she described as his administration’s development agenda, while assuring him of the continued support of Gambian women ahead of the December presidential election.

Kinteh made the remarks in Salikeni during President Barrow’s ongoing nationwide engagement with communities, where she highlighted what she described as the government’s efforts to include women in the country’s development process.

According to the Minister, President Barrow has demonstrated commitment across various sectors and has implemented programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of Gambians.

She said Gambian women can identify with the government’s development efforts, particularly through initiatives she believes have contributed to improving their lives and opportunities.

Kinteh also praised what she described as an increased space for freedom of expression under the Barrow administration. Recalling the political climate of the past, she said many Gambians were previously unable to openly express their views.

“There was a time nobody was able to talk, but because of President Barrow, everybody can say anything they want to,” she said.

The Minister further reaffirmed her political support for President Barrow, saying Gambian women remain firmly behind his leadership and are prepared to actively participate in his re-election campaign.

Message to Badibou

Speaking specifically about the people of Badibou, Kinteh said residents should recognize what she described as the significant development interventions delivered to the area under President Barrow’s administration.

She argued that the government’s development projects demonstrate the President’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens and said the people of Badibou have benefited from these interventions.

Kinteh urged residents to take the government’s development record into consideration as they assess the administration ahead of the December polls.

Women Ready to Campaign

Looking ahead to the presidential election, Kinteh expressed confidence in President Barrow’s prospects for re-election, arguing that his development record will play an important role in determining the outcome.

She said President Barrow has worked to earn the support of Gambians and deserves another opportunity to continue leading the country.

The Minister also delivered a strong message of support on behalf of Gambian women, assuring the President that they are prepared to play an active role in his campaign.

She said women would participate in his nomination-day activities and mobilize across communities in support of his candidacy.

“We are ready to go door to door to campaign for you,” she said.

Kinteh’s remarks come as political parties and supporters begin positioning themselves ahead of the December presidential election, with women expected to play a significant role in grassroots mobilization and campaign activities.
