OBITUARY: GAF MOURNS LT. COL. MAMATARR SECKA

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has announced, with deep sorrow, the passing of Lieutenant Colonel Mamatarr Secka.
In an official statement, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Mamat O.A. Cham, together with Service Chiefs, General Officers, Officers, Soldiers and Ratings, expressed profound regret over the loss. Lieutenant Colonel Secka passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, 6 May 2026, at the Serekunda General Hospital.
Until his demise, he served as a staff officer under the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.
Funeral arrangements indicate that burial will take place later today, Wednesday, 6 May 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at his residence in Kololi.
The GAF extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for strength and fortitude during this period of grief. The Armed Forces also prayed for the Almighty Allah to grant the late Lieutenant Colonel Secka eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
