
Six Gambian Media Professionals Complete Training Programme in China

A delegation of six Gambian media professionals and communicators has successfully completed the China-Africa Youth International Understanding and Communications Training Programme held in the People’s Republic of China from May 23 to June 4, 2026.
The programme brought together young media and communication professionals to strengthen skills in communication, media innovation, intercultural understanding, youth diplomacy, and public engagement.
The Gambian delegation, nominated through the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, comprised representatives from the Office of the President, Eye Africa TV, QTV Gambia, Star TV, MJ Mediamatic, and an independent content creator.
During the training, participants engaged in practical sessions, strategic discussions, and professional exchanges aimed at enhancing their capacity and broadening their understanding of global communication trends and international cooperation.
At the end of the programme, the participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their successful completion and active participation. The Ministry described the achievement as another important milestone in strengthening the capacity, exposure, and global engagement of young professionals within The Gambia’s media and communication sector.
According to the Ministry, the participants are returning home with fresh ideas, broader international perspectives, and strengthened professional networks that could contribute to a more innovative and impactful media landscape in The Gambia.
The Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services reaffirmed its commitment to creating opportunities that enable young communicators and media professionals to gain international exposure and acquire knowledge that supports national development.
The Ministry also commended the efforts of Information Minister, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, for his role in expanding opportunities for young Gambians in the media and communication sector through international training and exchange programmes.
Meanwhile, the Ministry expressed appreciation to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in The Gambia for its continued support in facilitating capacity-building initiatives and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Officials noted that such programmes not only enhance professional development but also contribute to strengthening the longstanding friendship and collaboration between The Gambia and China while investing in the next generation of media and communication leaders.
