The Gambia Against Looted Assets (GALA) has issued a strong warning over what it describes as credible information suggesting plans by the state to arrest prominent legal practitioner Lamin J. Darboe.
In a statement released to the public, GALA described Counsel Darboe as a “patriotic, selfless and courageous lawyer,” emphasizing his role in advancing justice and defending the rights of citizens.
The organization cautioned that any attempt to arrest him would be interpreted as a direct attack on justice and civil liberties. GALA further warned that such a move could trigger widespread public reaction, including the possibility of nationwide protests.
The group stated that it remains “alert, organized, and ready,” while calling on its supporters and the broader public to remain vigilant.
GALA concluded its statement with a message of solidarity, reaffirming its stance in defense of what it described as the rights of the “oppressed masses.”
