BAMAKO, Mali โ€” Mali’s transitional government has approved the allocation of land in several regions of the country for the construction and expansion of security infrastructure as part of efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of its defense and security forces.

The decision was adopted during a Council of Ministers meeting held on May 29 at the Presidential Palace in Koulouba under the chairmanship of Assimi Goรฏta, with Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maรฏga and members of the government in attendance.

According to the government, the approved decrees place several parcels of land at the disposal of the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection to facilitate the construction of new facilities for the country’s defense and security services.

The move forms part of a broader strategy aimed at reinforcing the state’s presence across the national territory amid ongoing security challenges.

The designated sites are spread across multiple regions, including Kolokani, Banancoro, Kouremalรฉ, Nyamina, Mourdiah, Kadiana, Kignan, Diรฉma, and Yorosso.

Authorities indicated that most of the allocated plots cover approximately five hectares, providing adequate space for the development of security installations and support facilities.

Officials say the investment is intended to improve the working conditions and deployment capabilities of security personnel while bringing security services closer to local communities. The government also expects the new infrastructure to enhance response times to emergencies and strengthen the effectiveness of operations in vulnerable areas.

The initiative comes as Mali continues efforts to expand state authority and improve security coverage across its vast territory amid persistent threats from armed groups and other security challenges.
