Motorists and businesses across The Gambia are set to benefit from lower fuel costs after the government announced a reduction in pump prices for July 2026 following its monthly petroleum price review.

The Ministry responsible for petroleum pricing said the adjustment was made in line with the government’s petroleum pricing framework, which takes into account international refined petroleum product prices, import costs, exchange rate movements, statutory taxes and levies, as well as other pricing components.

Under the new pricing structure, a litre of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) will now retail at D101.10, while Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) has been reduced to D113.52 per litre. Kerosene will now sell at D95.54 per litre.

The ministry noted that the revised pump prices are lower than those that were in effect in June 2026, offering some relief to consumers and businesses grappling with the high cost of transportation and energy.

Officials said the government remains committed to implementing a transparent and market-based pricing mechanism to ensure domestic fuel prices reflect developments in the international oil market while maintaining economic stability.

“The Ministry will continue to closely monitor developments in the international oil market and other relevant economic indicators and will undertake future price adjustments, where necessary, following the established pricing mechanism,” the statement said.

Fuel prices remain a key driver of inflation and transportation costs in The Gambia, making the latest reduction welcome news for households, transport operators and businesses as the country navigates ongoing global economic uncertainties.
